The Products We needed something to sell in our new stores. After many new ideas were presented the question was asked, "What is the single most important thing in a person's life". When spoken aloud the answer seemed obvious, health. Without our health, literally nothing else matters. It is the obvious thing that must come first in everybody's life. So, the focus of the new products should be health. Since everyone was so impressed with their own ability to set emotion aside temporarily and come up with such an honest, logical answer, it was decided to continue on the logical path to decide exactly what the new products should be. It was suggested that the problem be reduced to its simplest form, exactly what makes a body healthy? Someone suggested beginning at the beginning, what is a body made of? The simple answer is elements, just like everything else in the universe. Our bodies are made of 59 elements and just like everything else; these elements are arranged in special ways to build all of our different parts. The wonderful thing about our bodies is we don't have to know how to build our parts; all we have to do is stock the right raw materials in our parts warehouse and give them to our bodies when they need them. We feed ourselves and our bodies do all the work. We are literally self replicating machines. We don't need to be scientists, engineers, doctors or anything else to assemble those parts, our bodies know exactly how to do it. In fact, our bodies know how to do it better than the combined knowledge of all the scientists on the planet. The caveat, we need to know exactly which raw materials to stock in our warehouse. So, back to the beginning. On the surface, the answer seems simple; all we have to do is eat. After all, humans have been around for thousands of years surviving on a variety of diets. So what's wrong with the food we eat? It was suggested that maybe our food is not be as good as we have been led to believe. The reason is the food we eat has to provide all of the 59 elements that we are made of. Where does our food get these elements? The answer, of course, is from the soil, but since we have been using the same soil for hundreds of years to grow our food, wouldn't many essential elements be gone by now? It seems obvious that this must be true but we want to make sure. Okay, so everyone got an assignment. Go home and assemble what you believe is a day's portion of a perfect diet based on your own interpretation of the highly touted food pyramid. Once you have assembled all of the components, grind it up in your blender and bring it back Monday morning. Bright and early Monday morning everyone met again bringing with them a Mason jar filled with their perfect diet. All of the jars were dumped together in a big pot and the combined result was blended and sent to the lab for an elemental analysis. When the test results came back from the gang's "perfect diet" sample, the results surprised everybody. Everyone expected that there would be important ingredients missing but nothing at the level they found. Many essential elements were not found at all. Of the ones that were there, you would have to eat an impossibly large amount to get your minimum requirement. For instance you would have to eat: 9.9 Pounds to get a minimum daily requirement of iron, 12.57 Pounds for Calcium, 8.8 Pounds for Zinc, 6.94 Pounds for Phosphorus, 4.4 Pounds for Copper etc. In other words, it is humanly impossible to eat enough fresh; unfortified food to get the elements science knows that you need to be healthy. So, filling that actual need is the basis of the new products. The search for a source of the best possible health supplements ended in St. George Utah where we found T. J. Clark & Company. T. J.
